EATING WITH INTENTION
In Ephesians 5:17 in The Message Paul gives us such good advice.
“Don’t Live Carelessly, Unthinkingly”
It’s easy to eat carelessly and unthinkingly. The victory comes with Eating with Intention and not Unthinkingly.
INTENTIONAL: Intended; designed; done with design or purpose. The act was intentional not accidental. Did you know that this word is the word for the year of 2014?
In October, we talked about just what Emotional Eating Is, began searching for Emotional Trigger Points, talked about a very very important boundary that could make the difference between weighing 125 and 250+, and ended the monthly blog posts with some very eye opening research on “Our Body’s Many Cries for Water.”
Intention
What a powerful word! Without intention, our life drifts, we never find time for important things, and our fat cells may become fluffier and fluffier, as we eat unthinkingly.
Progress and Not Perfection
Eliminating Emotional Eating will not be done overnight. Always think on progress and not perfection. If you slip up remember: setbacks are solvable, failure is never final.
Baby steps will be your key.
You will need to ask yourself some tough questions and also be willing to make some tough decisions. Face the truth of what makes you turn to food and prepare in advance how you will met the challenge each time it occurs.
Be prepared with a bag of baby carrots or celery to munch on when heading into a stressful situation. Tell your body: “You will like these.”
Make a decision to never eat anything that you don’t absolutley love if it is on the debit side (health and fitness destroying side) of your success ledger.
Eat slowly, chewing every bite.
Eating with intention is a major key to your breakthrough.
Strategy: For the next 7 days, purpose to eat every bite slowly. After each bite, put your fork down, look up and smile. Drink no beverage with your meal. If you are accustomed to this habit, it could mean you are washing your food down. No beverage will remind you to chew and chew and will allow the digestive juices to work for you.
