A Family Update
Its been a while since I gave a family update. Almost all of the family was home for Easter. Our three college boys traveled home. Braden and Chandler came in from Tarleton College. Austin drove in from Wiley College. His college team had two baseball games on Saturday, but he was free for Sunday. Everyone went to Church with us for Easter service at NorthPlace.
Caris and Cali are 6 and 4 now. I didn’t want them to focus so much on “baskets and bunnies.” They came over Saturday morning and we used blocks and the little Fischer Price people to create the Easter Story. I had found a great kids version of the story to read to them as they enacted the scenes. Caris creatively made the sun rising out of Tinker Toys. Cali wrapped Jesus in linen cloth (toilet paper) before they took him to the tomb. This time is so precious. I know it won’t be long until they will be too busy to spend much time with me, so I want to make the very most of what years I have.
Grandmother
After church, John and I went by to get Mom so she could spend the day with us. We do love to spend holidays with my brother’s family as well; but now that we have 19 and he has 11, we have to limit our get togethers to Christmas. Mother will be 99 next month. I think she looks really good. A hairdresser now comes to the Heritage House and does her hair. She doesn’t look nearly 100. If only she could hear! God has blessed her abundantly with good health. I can tell she is getting a bit weaker and harder to get in and out of the car. She did make it fine, however; and seemed to enjoy all the family very much. It was quite noisey in our house. Her lack of hearing may have been a blessing on that particular day.

The Prize Egg
A tradition in our family has been an Easter Egg hunt on Easter afternoon after dinner. Eggs are hidden in rather plain sight for the smaller children and a prize egg is hidden for the older ones. We all contribute money to put in the prize egg. This year Brooke was selected to hide the egg and to tell no one. Dad’s have been known to give clues in the past. This beautiful egg had $70 in it.
The search began. As time passed by and no sign of the hidden egg, Brooke gave a clue. Finally she ended up giving 5 clues before it was found:
- Nathan Ready to search
- Caris searching
- Carter
- Austin
- Kylie
- Cali (4) More than ready
- More clues
- The final clue
- You won’t find it buried in the ground.
- It is not in the back yard.
- The front yard does not contain it.
- Low it is not.
- Don’t bother searching in the garage.
Chandler Finds the Egg
This was his first year to find the prize egg. (I’m sorry I can’t turn this photo around.)
