Aging
by Addie Hutmacher
Twenty tomorrow — How old that seems. A teenager no longer. Still, as long as I’m not 25 I’ll get by. And I know one thing: I’m certainly going to make hay in the next three years. After that I won’t care!
Thirty tomorrow — How terrifying that sounds now. I believe I’ll go right out and buy that lovely Jade dinner ring. After 50 I won’t care for those things?
Fifty tomorrow — Is that really old? No, it’s not even middle aged anymore. You’re all right as long as you keep your girlish figure. Men don’t quit admiring you until you’re 60!
Sixty tomorrow:- Heavens I could rank as a dowager. I don’t feel it and I don’t look it. It’s not your numerical age that counts anyway. I think you’re not old anymore till you’re 70 or even 80!
Eighty tomorrow: — Well I don’t mind being 80 as long as I’m not 90. As a matter of fact you don’t have much sense until you’re 80. You’re much more interesting. I’ll take that trip to Bermuda, now. I might as well have a good time till I’m 90!
Ninety tomorrow — I suppose it is all in the way you look at it!
One Hundred tomorrow — But I’m still not too old to keep looking! ~ Addie Hutmacher
Do You Identify with Any of these Thoughts?
Goodness, I think the age that was the very hardest for me was thirty. I felt incredibly old at thirty. After that I actually began to feel younger and younger. Today at almost 75, it is so very hard to understand how the years have passed so quickly. Really, I don’t feel old at all. ~Dani
I agree Dani! (Connie age76)
