All is Well August
The Shunammite’s Son
This story in 2 Kings 4:18-37 has always been special to me. She is a shining example of faith and persistence. Her son had died. She held fast to her confession that “all is well”. She got to the man of God and she persisted until he came to her house and raised the boy from the dead. As I read the story, I think of how easy it would have been for her to say anything but….”all is well”, of how easy it would have been to have just given up and seen the impossible, and of what persistence and courage it took to ride the long ride and find the prophet and refuse to leave until he came with her. Oh my goodness, what an example this woman is to us.
All is Well
So many times in our own lives it does not look at all like “all is well.” It certainly takes looking with the eye of faith to maintain hope and courage.
We overcome by the blood of the Lamb and by the Word of Our Testimony. I have heard it said that HOPE is the golden cord connecting us to heaven. HOPE is the anchor of our soul the Bible tells us.
I am naming my month “All is Well” August. Not everything looks like it is, but God is working behind the scenes for you and for me. He will never leave us or forsake us.
Our joys are rich as we celebrate family birthdays again this month. It seems like the majority of our family has a summer July or August birthday. I’m so grateful for these celebrations.
I love the practice of daily listing gratitudes. This keeps our heart soaring with hope and appreciation and fulfills the command to think on things good and pure and lovely and of a good report. I think we will all be quite surprised when we arrive in heaven and realize how the circumstances of our life were so greatly ordered by our thoughts and our words. God has given us such a part to play in our own path of life.
Proverbs 4:18 Good News Translation
The road the righteous travel is like the sunrise, getting brighter and brighter until daylight has come.
Summer is Quickly Ending
To me, summer always seems short. This one has too. Three grandsons soon leave for college and one granddaughter enters Kindergarten. John and I will have our traditional back to school dinner at a special restaurant in a couple of weeks for our five oldest grans. This will be our third year to do this. It is an investment that brings treasured memories.
I encourage you to stir up your hopes for this month and declare that “All is Well August” has arrived. Let’s remember that HOPE is a wonderful anchor for our soul: our mind, will and emotions. It is a golden cord connecting us to the glory of heaven.
