ONLY WORDS OVERCOME THOUGHTS
Thoughts cannot overcome thoughts. To overcome thoughts we must speak words. Spoken words overcome thoughts. Words cancel or words approve. We will not succeed by just trying not to worry. We must decide and speak. You may wish to create your own mantra to have ready for the battle:
“I don’t worry about anything at all, ever. I just don’t. I cast all of my cares over on Jesus.”
We may need to take worry thoughts captive every minute at first. An anxious thought pops into our mind. We must rebuke it outloud. Remember only words overcome thoughts. Take it captive. “I refuse to take the care of that. Jesus, in accordance with your Word, I roll the care of that over on you because I know you care for me.”
A LINE IN THE SAND
It is time to decide. “I don’t worry.” It is helpful to draw an imaginary line on the floor and step over. Set boundaries around thoughts you will allow and totally refuse all others. “I will capture all worry thoughts. Take on the “I can and I will” attitude. See yourself on the other side free of worry. It can be done.
PRACTICE
Practice being an overcomer. Practice in your thinking. Practice in your talking. Use each mistake as a stepping stone for victory the next time.
Inches make a Champion ~ Vince Lombardi
The good news is, if you and I will be diligent to fight the battle against worry by keeping the Word in our heart and in our mouth, the time will come when that word and the knowledge of God’s faithfulness will be so big on the inside of us, we will walk in that peace of God that passes understanding and worry will be left standing outside.
