Before You Pray
There are a few very important things to do before you and I present a request to the Lord. He tells us to put Him in remembrance of His Word. He tells us He sent HIS WORD and healed us. He is so ready to do His part. Our part is to come before Him bringing His Word to Him concerning the answer promise to the prayer we are praying. The Bible tells us “all the promises of God are Yes and Amen.”
Find Your Promise
Before you pray, find your scripture. What promise are you bringing before the Lord for Him to fulfill?
Examine Your Heart
This is so often overlooked and will mean the difference between a prayer answered and one that is not.
Do you have any sin in your life? Do you have unforgiveness you are carrying? Mark 11:25 “but when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Faith in Heaven will forgive you.” There is a gift our Father in Heaven has given and provided for us. It is often not seen as a gift. This is the gift of REPENTANCE. When we repent and change our heart about a sin matter or about an unforgiveness, we are restored back to the Father. Repentance is a gift.
Awareness
Since I have become aware of these principles, I find that I must keep on my toes and never even allow myself to be mad at John. It opens the door to the enemy and gives him legal right to step in. And for sure I know I cannot and will not allow any unforgiveness in my heart. Once I recognize it for what it is, I quickly accept the gift of repentance. I don’t want to be turned over to the tormentors, which our Lord says will happen if we don’t forgive.
Matthew 18:33-35 King James Version (KJV)
33 Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?
34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.
35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
Seems Harsh?
Yes, these seem like harsh things and they are. However, knowing these truths from the scriptures can make you and I free from the Law of Sin and Death. It is a light thing to forgive in face of being turned over to the tormentors.
