A simple Christian Fitness system: Spirit, soul and body
Mind
My choice for getting older or better is better. John is now 80 and I will be there in a little over a year. Oh my goodness! We don’t feel old at all. How we do thank the Lord for His mercy and for His instructions on long life.
My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you.
Our pastor, Curry Blake, has opened our eyes to amazing truths in God’s Word. Adam was created in the image of God. He was smart enough to name every animal. His mind was phenomenal before the fall, when he ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and died spiritually. This fallen nature passed to all men born after Adam.
How we thank the Lord Jesus for coming to rescue us. He paid the price for us.
When we receive Him as Lord and Savior, we become a “new creation in Christ Jesus”. Old things (the old fallen nature is passed way and all things become new.) The Holy Spirit now comes to live in our spirits. We are restored to the image of Christ. What an amazing thought.
One problem arises that all Christians face. That new Spirit in us is trapped within us until we renew our mind and become transformed.
Romans12:1,2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
We can renew our mind by reading and believing and acting on the Word of God.
Dr. Caroline Leaf reveals how science is now catching up with the Bible. Old thinking, old research tells us several things about getting older that really are not true. Getting older does not mean that the brain is degenerating. Old thinking is actually wrong thinking. However, this kind of thinking will bring above-unwanted things to pass. Thankfully, we can learn the truth, and do things to prevent these results from old thinking.
Dr. Caroline Leaf tells us that the newly emergent science of neuroplasticity proves that the brain can reorganize itself. It can change and alter its structure as we think. “What we choose to think about and how we choose to think can switch our genes on and off; changing the structure and function of the brain.” ~ Dr. Leaf.
The brain only gets better with use. It never wears out. It does not degenerate unless we fail to use it. God tells us in His Word that we are each fearfully and wonderfully made. It is marvelous to think about how God created us in His image. “There is no expiration date on potential.” ~Dr. Leaf
Many years ago, John and I learned about God’s Covenant of Divine Health. We began believing for long life and good health. “As our days are, so shall our strength be.” This scripture, Deuteronomy 33:25, is one of my favorite scriptures. For the past four years, we have prayed this daily.
We began ballroom dancing lessons and crossfit training in our 70’s. Both have been a key to keeping flexible and mobile. Dancing works our muscles and our brain. Our Crossfit training has helped with our strength and balance.
God has created each of us with an incredible amount of potential. Getting older does not mean that our brain is degenerating; unless we believe it will, and fail to use our body or our brain. The later years can be the best years of our life. They are that way for John and I. We are extremely grateful. Dancing can keep you young.
I tell you this story from decades ago to let you see how I struggled with the worry of weight, aging, and lack of complete joy for so many years. No longer! This makes me feel grateful and happy. You can too.
Did it really begin when I was 20? Yes, it did. For some crazy reason, I saw myself fearing that I was gaining weight, even though I wasn’t. At age 21, John and I were married. Either we bought a scale or someone gave us one as a wedding present. That darn scale. It only added fuel to the fire.
Can you believe I gave that darn scale the power to determine the joy of my day? If it told me I had gained a pound, I was crushed. If it had lost a pound, the day was joyful. What a way to live. That scale was stealing my joy, mandating a new diet each Monday, and chipping away at my self-image in the midst of some of the happiest days of my life as newly married to the one I loved. This could have been the beginning of a never-ending spiral. It did get worse as a few years went on; but thankfully, oh so thankfully, the story turned.
It is evident to me that God directs our steps, sometimes even before we personally know Him. I didn’t come to know Him personally until 1970 when I was 28; but He knew my heart of searching and he
guided me to the right college, the right man, and even the right decisions as my life progressed. He is such a good God. I can never thank Him enough for his mercy.
You may be thinking: “well, how overweight did you become in those years?” I must tell you that for some (me), you don’t have to accumulate more than 10 pounds or 10 inches in certain places to feel worried and defeated. I seemed to lose and gain the same five pounds and inches back over and over.
Added to this season of despair, our young family was sick very often. I had so many questions: Is sickness part of God’s will for us on earth? Is finding joy and peace a possibility? What would life be like when I turn 30…..40…..50?
The upward spiral began when I came to know Jesus as my personal Savior. Hope began to emerge inside of me. I learned that His Will is His Word. Here I would find many answers. The journey took time as I spent hours each day going through my concordance and finding every scripture in the Old and New Testament that had to do with healing. I had three preachers I listened to each morning on the radio who taught about Faith.
Knowledge, understanding, and faith began to come. I found without one shadow of a doubt that God’s will for me and my family was healing and health. This was the beginning.
To make this story shorter and to save the rest for later, one of my questions was answers and I was eager to search for more.
As I kept seeking, I kept finding. Other aspects of action were needed to join with my newly found faith. I read that faith without action is dead. Yes, it was; but it was coming alive.
Soon I put action with my growing interest and knowledge in nutrition; another of the facets of the framework I would eventually put together for my journey of fitness, health and happiness onward into each decade.
As the components of the framework began to come together, it didn’t take long at all for worry to have shorter stays and fitness and health to begin bursting in. Of course, this brought immense joy, which fueled my discipline and consistence.
Since those days in my 30’s, I have continued to study, implement and share. Each year I have learned more and each year I have become healthier even though I am now in my late 7th decade of life. The framework I learned, (one component at at time), refined and walked out has taken me through my 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and now almost through my 70’s. Gratefulness fills my heart.
Sharing these components is what Fabufit is all about.
My goal with Fabufit is to find ones who also are searching for the truth on this path to living long and strong. God has given me the gift of teaching and encouragement, which I would love to share with you via posts, courses, free offers, and/or products. Sometimes it only takes one idea to turn your life path around.
If this seems to be a path you want to be on too of living long and strong with fitness and health, jump on board with our upcoming course: Engaging Your Energy.

Angels are on assignment in April as we declare God’s mighty Word telling us that the angels are all ministering spirits, sent forth for us who are heirs of salvation. Special guardian angels are on missions to protect our family members, bring people and ideas across our paths, and orchestrate details we would have no idea on how to orchestrate.
Many times they are invisible. The Bible even mentions that we must be careful as we might be entertaining angels unaware. Charles Capps is one of the great Generals of Faith that most likely contributed more than anyone in the understanding of the power of our words. Here is a short masterful presentation on the revelation of angels: Charles Capps on angels
Our angels are set into motion by our words that are in line with God’s word. Ps 103:20 says angels excel in strength and they hearken to the voice of His Word. We are the ones speaking His Word on the earth today.
I love this time of the year as we begin to see the flowers blooming and the trees blossoming. For me, it is a reminder of a new season and time to learn new things, which I so enjoy doing. Life is a journey of discovering all the treasures that God has prepared for us.
We will begin one of my favorite of all courses later in April: Engaging Your Energy. Watch for this announcement.
Years ago I read a Christmas card that had a phrase I have never forgotten. The phrase went something like this: He paid a price we couldn’t pay for a debt He didn’t owe. When Jesus came to earth as a man and lived life as a man, he qualified in the Supreme Court of the Universe to be eligible to pay the price for sin we could never ever be able to pay. Then He went to the cross and was crucified and went on to hell to suffer for you and for me, so we do not have to suffer if only we received and confess Him as our Lord and Savior. He was raised from the dead so we might have eternal life. Romans 10:8-10
Our faith is based on the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. These are facts received by faith, that have changed the history of mankind.
But what do these facts mean for you—2,000 years later? Do they mean anything? Actually, they mean everything to us as believers. The same spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead dwells in us and quickens our mortal bodies.
When the power of God raised Christ from the dead, it sealed Satan’s defeat forever. Now, it’s up to you to live in the finished work of the Cross.
May we wish you a Happy Easter as you remember this tremendous price we couldn’t pay that He paid for us.

As I think on the theme of Fabufit: How to Age Gracefully with Health, Fitness, and Happiness, I begin to think of what treasures one should leave as a legacy in this long life journey. Have you ever thought that thought? Maybe not, as I have not thought about it much before. I would like to leave some financial blessings, but more importantly, I would like to leave memories and wisdom. Most of all, above all else, I would like to leave a legacy of what I have learned through the Word of God.
I’ve tried to begin this legacy by journaling through a new Bible the year before each grandchild’s HS graduation. In the journaling, I have tried to personalize and pray specifically over the child who I would be giving the Bible to. Five are now completed and given on graduations. Four are to come.
My Dake’s Study Bible
Jim Rohn lists three treasures to leave as a Legacy:
Your Journals contain your wisdom and your thoughts. I have boxes full of journals and planners of years past Actually, I’ve not been so very consistent in recent times with my journaling. When my mom went on to heaven in December, I began going through many boxes searching to see if she had any journals I didn’t know about. She had only a very few entries, but I loved reading them. This inspired me to begin consistent journaling again. It helps to have a dedicated book for the year to journal in.
I also realize how rewarding it is to keep a gratitude journal and develop the gratitude muscle, which just like physical muscles diminishes with age if not used.
Years and years ago I began creating scrapbooks. Back in the early days, there were no digital photos, no IPhone to select photos from, and no easy way to make any kind of a memory book. I remember using my camera to take 8-12 pictures (no retakes or deletes), taking the film to the store to be processed, and then coming home with my few photos to choose from. If I realized I wanted to duplicate any for books I was making for my mom or John’s mom, I then had to go to the negatives and find which ones they were, go back to the processing store, and have copies made. Only then was I ready to paste in a page or two of memories. (And I was creating a book of the entire year:( Yikes! Oh, this was a difficult process.)
I doubt that few of these books given as gifts at Christmas, containing the entire year of photos, were actually appreciated in comparison to the time I had spent, which was hours and hours and hours. I persisted. Eventually, digital photos came into existence with ways to take many photos and delete what wasn’t the best. A blessing!
This took my process from the beginning almost impossible process to handmade books putting printed photos into pages in a book and finding captions or icons to cut out and paste also. Next, years later, came a way to create a digital book online. For so many years I used Creative Memories and made beautiful books. They still took many hours to create, but far less than before. They changed ownership and I couldn’t really figure out the new process, so I changed to My Publisher. Loved this program too, but they went out of business.
Then I found Chatbooks. I must admit I miss the wonderful page templates and many formatting features I was used to (especially with Creative Memories), but the ease of creation has almost made up for this. Erin at Crossfit had begun using Chatbooks 3 years ago to capture each month of her new baby’s life with the Mini Books. I began my own Mini book series, which I still use. I’ve also created the larger 8 x 8 books for Graduation presents and many 6 x 6 books.
What I may like best about Chatbooks is the online Chat Support. It is wonderful. Many sales pop up here and there so it is always good to have a book ready to go. If you use my referral code, you will receive $10 off on your first book and they even give me a $10 credit on my next book. You then can get a referral code and give the same gift. Just go to chatbooks.com.
This habit is one of the top 5 Keystone Habits you can develop according to Dream Coach, Terri Foy. Oh the things we can learn from the books we carefully select and read. My favorite is the Bible in many different translations. The Passion Translation has captivated my attention right now.
Find something you really want to learn about and then search of a book. I needed to learn about internet marketing and found Expert Secrets. Years ago I wanted to find out just how to know God’s Will. God’s Will for You by Gloria Copeland opened my eyes and changed my life. All of my library of books are highlighted and filled with notes. Some I review often. My prayer is that these books will be a blessing to our children and grandchildren as the years travel by. Follow the link to the KCM.org website and for a small cost ($2.99) you can get a PDF of God’s Will for Your Healing by Gloria.
