God’s Word is Like a Hammer
Scripture 3 on Perspective
Put this into Your Heart

A Fire and a Hammer
A fire and a hammer are powerful. It can overcome one of our greatest enemies, “Worry”. Learn more about overcoming worry.
This scripture is the one I used to carry me through our son and older daughter’s teenage years. Many nights our son came in late; sometimes very late. If you are a mother, you may know that a mother’s tendency can be to begin to think thoughts of “What if?” This mother did. I would walk the circle of our house inside and speak scripture promises of rescue and victory over our son. I would declare that God’s Word was breaking the rock of most stubborn resistance in our son’s heart.
Very vividly, I remember one particular night of walking and praying. It was getting later and later. All the rest of my family was sound asleep. These words came out of my mouth: “Lord, is there really any hope?” Immediately a scripture came to my mind to encourage me. I can’t say I heard the Lord’s audible voice, but the verse was very distinct. “Yes, there is hope. Your children will come again from the land of the enemy. There is hope.”
There is hope in your future, says the Lord, That your children shall come back to their own border.
And, thankfully, he did, they did.
What Needs Smashing to Pieces in Your Life?
Might it be overeating (binge syndrone), eating too fast, worry over weight, worry over family, a spirit of defeat, or something else that is an unwanted habit or spirit the enemy tries to enforce?
Jeremiah 23:29 Does not my word burn like fire? says the Lord, “Is it not like a mighty hammer that smashes a rock to pieces.?”
Gratitude

Personally, I have so much to be grateful for, and yet I at times allow the tiniest, unimportant thing, as the computer beat me up. Isn’t that crazy! Am I unwiring my good wires that Dr. Caroline Leaf talks about. Ugh! I am changing gears. Do you have gears to change, stubborn areas to smash?
There are times that we can focus so much on the problem we are facing that we forget to look to the One who has all the answers. Gratefulness can make the Lord bigger than any problem.
Story of Medical Students
Several years ago research was published on a group of medical students who focused so much on studying a disease that they became convinced they had the disease they were studying. Focusing on the negative tricks our brain into believing the negative. Let’s turn that around by focussing on the positive. let’s prime the pump to put our focus on the Lord and how we can glorify Him in our health and fitness path.
