We receive questions from online friends – this one melted my heart because so many have lost the joy that Jesus came to give. My answer to this question encompasses the Circle of Health – Spirit, Mind & Body.

Question:  ”I suffer from depression and anxiety disorder and am wanting to combat it naturally, what do you suggest?”

A: The enemy would like to beat any of us up with depression and anxiety. Jesus paid a huge price for us to be healed and whole: Spirit, soul, and body. These two challenges need to be addressed from each aspect of the Circle of Health.

Spirit: Find two or three scriptures concerning your promise of freedom from these things and begin to meditate on them and speak them. Speaking puts the Law of Confession to work on your behalf and also puts your angels to work for you. Set a watch over your mouth so that you train yourself to speak only what God says. Here are a few examples:  “The joy of the Lord is my strength” Nehemiah 8:10 Thank you Lord I am filled with your joy and that joy is my strength

2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Thank you Lord I do not accept the spirit of fear;r but of power, of love, and a sound mind.

Gal 3:13 Christ has redeemed me from the curse of the law that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles by faith.

Thank you, Lord, I am redeemed from the curse of depression and anxiety. The blessing of Abraham is mine.  I walk in the Blessing and I am totally set free.

Soul: (Mind, will, emotions) Make a decision to believe that God has provided for your freedom from depression and anxiety. Make a decision to receive it by faith, no matter how bad it may look.  The Bible tells us to walk by faith and not by sight.

Capture every thought that is contrary and this may take capturing thoughts over and over and over in the beginning. I Cor 10:3 tells us to take every captive to the obedience of Christ. One translation says to make the thought “give up”.  Choose to think on things good, pure and lovely and of a good report.  Phil 4:7,8. This takes the training of having your scriptures written out, meditating on them, and speaking them until they become automatic reflexes. Our Pastor calls this preparation Proactive Faith and then the automatic reflexes Reactive Faith.

For years I wrote my scriptures of promises that I was believing God for on 4×6 cards and carried them with me. Recently, I have found that it is easier to use a little 4×6 spiral index card booklet. This keeps them together and all in one place.

Body: What we feed our natural body has a great deal to do with how we feel. We want to be sure we don’t set ourselves up for failure by the wrong food and beverages. For me personally, I know if I eat sugar more than once in a while, it invites depression to try and come on me. Eating big meals and then skipping meals can cause our emotions to go on a roller coaster ride. (I address this very specifically in my Fabufit 201 course.)

B Complex is called “The Happy Vitamin”.  Guess what? Sugar depletes our B Complex and stress uses up the B’s rapidly. If the body is adequately supplied with all of the B vitamins, emotions run much smoother and we have far fewer cravings for sweets.

One thing I have found as a tremendous asset in my fitness and health treasure chest is a natural B Complex. I have used one from the Shaklee Corporation for over 30 years.     I have faithfully taken this B Complex from Shaklee for over 30 years.
