For Your Peace and Comfort
Extra reinforcement is so needed in such a time as this for mine and your peace and comfort. These are two things I learned in the month of August that have been a great blessing to me. I pray they will be to you as well.
- Ideas from a book called Two Chairs by Bob Beaudine
- Peace on your shoulder taught by Bill Johnson at the Southwest Believers Convention in August
Two Chairs
We heard Bob speak at our church. I have just received the book and not read it all but enough from his sermon and the first few chapters to have gleaned some valuable things for peace and comfort.
Bob’s mother taught him about the two chairs. One chair for him and one for the Lord Jesus. She told him to just go with the expectation that He’s been waiting for this moment with you for a long time. “Say good morning, thank Him for coming, and tell Him you have some questions. He’ll take over from there.”
Beaudine’s mother asked him, “Bob, if there was a one percent chance that God would meet you, would you set up the 2 chairs?”
He set up the two chairs forty years ago and has met with Him every day since.
Three Questions
These three questions that Mrs. Beaudine asked have been helpful for me to remind myself of how good God is and how He is able and will to help us in every situation:
- Does God know your situation? Yes!
- Is it too hard for Him to handle? No!
- Does He have a good plan for you? Yes!
The Dove of Peace
“We cannot live overly conscious of problems. Anyone who listens to mainstream media more than the Word has any discouragement self-inflicted.” ~ Bill Johnson
The Holy Spirit rests upon those who give place for adoration. “Sometimes we try to obtain through discipline what can only be gotten through intimacy.” ~ Johnson The imagery Pastor Johnson used has been a help to me. I am still working on making this a habit in my life. Here it is:
Imagine
Imagine the Spirit of God in the form of a dove sitting on your shoulder. If the dove is on your shoulder, every step, every movement you make is with the dove in mind. If you and I do this, the grace of God rests in me and in you overshadowing whatever is trying to overshadow us. There is a blanket of God over us. The Spirit of God will guide and comfort you and me. Let’s choose to Quit Worrying about anything.
Fear of the Virus
“The only reason we can live in fear of the virus is that it is bigger in our consciousness than our awareness of God.” ~ Bill Johnson Let’s begin to imagine the wonderful Holy Spirit dove traveling with us wherever we go, ever ready to guide us, protect us, and comfort us. Let’s fill our minds up with things good, pure, and lovely and turn off the main stream media. Let’s pray for Godly men and women to be elected in the upcoming election. (By the way, be sure you are registered to vote and that you know the two platforms.) One platform is one in allignment with God’s word. The other is not at all. We must find out and vote for our Christian principles. I’ve heard it said over and over that this is likely the most important election in the history of our nation.
