It is a joyful time to begin a brand new year. God’s mercies are new every morning. I’m looking forward to 365 new mercies. The past few days have been focused on new plans, new commitments, and new expectations. And ,yes, once again I changed dayplanners to give me a jolt for newness I guess you might say. This year I selected a one page per day At A Glance binder that I found at Office Depot. The year’s days are all bound in one binder so I don’t have to go find new pages to change out each month. So hopefully, this will help me be more organized. Our niece, Shea, gave me a new devotional book called Jesus is Calling by Sarah Young. Let me share just a little of this with you today as it has encouraged me greatly:
JESUS IS CALLING
January 1 Come to Me with a teachable spirit, eager to be changed. A close walk with Me is a life of continual newness. Do not cling to old ways as you step into a new year. Instead seek My face with an open mind, knowing that your journey with Me involves being transformed by the renewing of your mind. . As you focus your thoughts on me, be aware that I’m fully attentive to you. I see you with a steady eye because My attention span is infinite. I know and understand you completely; my thoughts embrace you in everlasting love. I also know the plans I have for you: plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. ……” – Sarah Young
As I thought of a name for my month, I began to think again on all of the wonderful treasures God has for us through His word. I decided to use the one I loved last January: “Jeweled January”. Jewels are precious, they sparkle with excitement. This is how I want my days to be.
Choosing to Smile
In my daily Bible reading I ended the year yesterday with Proverbs 31. It is so very beautiful as it describes the attitude and expectancy of this Proverb ideal woman. One translation says, “she smiles at the future.” Another says, “she laughs at the future.”
Inspiring Ourselves to Laugh and Smile
The past several years I began listing my Top Ten Gratitudes for the previous year. Mine are listed with wonderful memories attached. Another inspiring thing to do is to list the Top Ten Desires of Your Heart for 2017 as I suggested last year, and then set some goals to accompany these desires. Watch for mine, which I will share in the January posts.
Psalms 37:4,5 Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord – roll and repose (each care of) your load on Him; trust (lean on, rely on and be confident) also in Him, and He will bring it to pass.Plans on the Drawing Board for Team Fabulous
