We want the Storehouse of our Mind filled with Treasure
I absolutely love the three ways that Amy Carmichael gives us for putting treasure into our storehouse. Actually I had gotten my old book out to verify the part about needing vital faith and was reminded of this beautiful part as well. I can see I must go back and reread this old classic.
Whenever the Spirit of God makes a word come alive to you, be sure to capture that word by writing it down and letting it sink deep into your heart. We can all do this.
Anytime the Bible is read aloud LISTEN with the inward ear. Then, whether you can immediately recall it or not, it is stored in that wonderful storehouse of memory, and in time of need will be there for you. We can all do this too.
Amy says this third way is perhaps only open to the fairly young. I am not sure I do agree with that as I know of a lady named Marilyn Hickey, who in her 80’s, memorizes large portions of scripture. This third way is called learning by heart.
One of my goals for this summer is to hid many of the scriptures I love in my heart and be able to quickly recall them with their accurate addresses. I was coming along fairly well with this in the spring and then life seemed to sidetrack me. I can’t wait to get back to this faith project. One way I hope to help myself do this is by creating 4×6 cards for the scriptures I am working on. I think I will even color code them for Healing, Family, Peace, etc. I will keep you posted on this project and I would love any ideas that might help me with this.
Psalm 138:8 “The Lord shall make good His loving kindness toward me.”
Ps 57:2 “I will call unto the most high God, even unto the God that shall perform the cause which I have in hand.”
