Scripture 1: Presenting Your Body
Have you thought about presenting your body to the Lord as a living sacrifice? As you desire to walk on the high road on your health and fitness route, the wisdom from this scripture is a perfect foundation to initiate success. This may very well be the missing ingredient you have searched for.
In the month of June Fabufit team members be going through a course of changing our health and fitness perspective. The foundation of this course will be seven scriptures, which I will be sharing with you via the upcoming posts.
Romans 12:1 NLT And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice – the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him.
Romans 12:2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world. but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Take Your Everyday Ordinary Life
The Message Translation is one of my favorites. It gives you a more practical idea of what “Presenting your Body” looks like.
Romans 12:1,2 So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you. Take your everyday, ordinary life — your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life — and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him.
The Change will Begin on the Inside
Romans 12:2 Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings out the best in you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
Have you ever thought of your eating and exercising habits as a form of worship? As you begin to think on this thought, it will begin a perspective change.
Can It Be Done?
Presenting your body as a living sacrifice can be done. The Word is magnificently powerful to accomplish all it is sent forth to accomplish. This is a promise you have been given. This, like every promise in God’s Word, is received by faith. The scriptures in this ebook will build your faith to receive.
The Spirit is Willing
The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. The spirit is always ready to obey the word. The flesh must be mortified and whipped into line with the will and word of God and kept in subjection. We mortify the body and make it obey by renewing our mind with the engrafted Word of God, which is able to save our souls (our mind, will and emotions.)
1 Corinthians 9:27 New Living Translation (NLT)
27 I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.
1 Corinthians 9:27 The Message (MSG)
26-27 I don’t know about you, but I’m running hard for the finish line. I’m giving it everything I’ve got. No sloppy living for me! I’m staying alert and in top condition. I’m not going to get caught napping, telling everyone else all about it and then missing out myself.
A Great Tool – Gratitudes
For the mind to be renewed, toxic thoughts and patterns need to be replaced with truths from God’s Word. The quality of gratefulness has high honor in the scriptures. Developing the Gratefulness Muscle will begin the inside out change that Romans 12 refers to. Are you ready to begin?
- Buy a small notebook to capture gratitudes or
- Use your iPhone Notes to daily record gratitudes or
- Use the free app called Penzu.com to journal in and cultivate the habit of gratitude capturing
Gratitude is like a muscle, which must be developed to become stronger. With a lack of use, it atrophies and may even disappear.
