Seven Proven Ways to Cultivate Happiness

1Meditate God’s Word

God’s Word is a lamp to your footsteps and a light to your path. The more you meditate on God’s Word, the brighter your lamp becomes. The brighter your path becomes. You will more easily see the way to go and the thing to do. His Word is filled with promises to bring joy and gladness into your heart.

2Find Something Good to Be Looking Forward To

Life is so much fun, when we are looking forward to something good coming up. Always plan something good to come over the horizon. Imagine how fun it will be.

3Purpose to Commit Conscious Acts of Kindness

It is very very hard to be a blessing to someone else without feeling blessed and happy yourself. Intentionally plan some acts of kindness. Who can you bless today?

4Exercise

Once you develop a consistent exercise plan and establish the habit of exercise, you will be smiling each time you complete this habit. This not only brings such a sense of accomplishment, but also releases pleasure-inducing chemicals called endorphins. Imagine yourself loving exercise because you love the benefits it brings.

5Inspire Yourself by Positivity Placed into Your Surroundings

What do you love? Beautiful colors? Flowers? Scriptures on the wall? Photos of your loved ones? Make your surroundings a happy place and the happiness will rub off on you.

6Discover and Exercise a Signature Strength You Have

Take the test at viasurvey.org to discover your top signature strengths. Using a signature strength is even more fulfilling than using a signature skill we might have. A signature strength is a strength of character. It is a trait that is deeply embedded in just who we are. The use of both signature strengths and skills gives us a burst of positivity each time we use them.

“Studies have shown that the more you use your signature strengths in daily life, the happier you become.” ~ Shawn Achor

7Spend Money on Experiences versus Things

Spending money on experiences, especially with other people, activates meaningful and lasting positive emotions. Money spent on things is not nearly so fulfilling as money invested into experiences.
