Six Areas of Toxic Thinking

dozen eggsThe Dirty Dozen Team

Dr. Caroline Leaf’s revised edition of Who Switched Off My Brain, reveals twelve areas of toxic thinking, which can be swept away. She calls this team the Dirty Dozen. These guys are deceptive. They can keep us locked up from becoming all God has called us to be, if they are not discovered and swept out.

Here are six of the twelve which Team Fabulous is learning to melt and sweep away in our teleconference course on Renewing the Mind.

Toxic Thoughts

HandcuffsThese are the easiest to capture and throw out before they take hold. If not captured, they will grow and intertwine.

Toxic Emotions

fearThis dirty dozen player counts on the fact that emotions and thoughts intertwine and are inseparable. There are only two types of emotions: Love and Fear. All other emotions are derivatives of these. We are wired for love, not fear.

Thoughts arising from the base of Fear, often trigger emotional eating.

II Tim 1:7 God has not given you the spirit of fear, but the spirit of power, of love and of a sound mind.

Toxic Words

DeclareThis member is very sneaky. He originates from toxic thoughts. Every word we speak contains power. Proverbs 18:21 tells us that LIFE and Death are in the power of the tongue.

Toxic Choices

choiceHe is the Leader of the group.  He tries to deceive us into thinking that we aren’t responsible for our choices. We are. Choice is a God-given gift.

Every choice has consequences: good or bad.

Toxic Dreams

God has designed us so that He can do amazing healing things as we sleep.

Toxic Seeds

Seeds toxicThis player of the dozen grows roots that try to strangle love and joy. The main toxic seed of all is UNFORGIVENESS.  We can sweep this seed right out with a disciplined consistent strategy (which Team Fabulous is learning).

Forgiveness is a choice.   Forgiveness demonstrates great courage.

Watch for the other six toxic players in the next post.forgiveness
