Many years ago I began to realize the importance of imagining possibilities of good things happening instead of worrying.
As we imagine possibilities, we begin to strengthen our “Gratitude” muscle.
Dr. Caroline Leaf, drleaf.com, tells us to deliberately and intentionally practice imagining possibilities in every situation. As a result, the more you practice by writing the possibilities down, the more you find yourself practicing this “Possibility Mindset”. “If one door closes, you will start seeing another one open.”~Dr. Leaf. She suggests even making a game of seeing how many possibilities you can think of for any one situation.
Using the GIFT Score to Strengthen our Gratitude Muscle
One of our main goals in Fabufit is to Strengthen our Gratitude Muscle. Do you know about the GIFT Score? I learned about it many years again from one of my students. Consequently, this is a magnificent way to begin to rewire our brain from Fear and Worry thoughts to Joy and Peace.
Take a few minutes throughout the day to practice Gratitude Streaming. First of all, just think on one grateful thought after another. Then, move on to the next step of seeing how high you are scoring on the Gift Scorecard:
G – Gratefulness for the Present (1-10)
I – Intentional Hope for the Future
F – Forgiveness of the Past – (others and yourself)
T – Trust in a Never-Failing Heavenly Father
An even more helpful way to use this tool is to create the habit of totaling this score daily.
Ten will be the best. With some practice and training of your mind, you can reach 10/10/10/10.
G – Gratefulness for the Present
What are you grateful for today? Remember Alice in Wonderland? Because
she made it a habit of imagining ten impossibilities each morning before breakfast, she daily worked on that priceless “gratitude muscle.”
In conclusion, the more you and I can imagine the solutions to our problems, the bigger our God becomes. Therefore, we begin to see that imagining possibilities is more important than we realized.
