A Simple Recipe to Cultivate Happiness
Here is a simple recipe to begin to cultivate happiness. Our attitude makes all the difference in how a day turns out. It is amazing how important our choices are: especially the choice of how we spend the first few minutes of the day.
Fill Your Mind with Hope and Encouragement

Amplified
Our good friends, hope and encouragement, which stream from God’s Word, will keep us from the pit of despair and self-pity. Our attitude: good or bad, can become a habit. God tells us to fight the good fight of faith. We do this by filling our hearts with His Word as Faith comes by hearing and hearing. Like all habits, we can develop the habit of Happiness.
Simple Recipe for Happiness
Here are some short guidelines for developing this habit of happiness adapted from the book, The Happiness Advantage by Shawn Anchor.
Here is the Recipe
Three very specific Gratitudes
(In Fabufit we call this Gratitude Streaming.) Think on these throughout the day.
The Doubler
Think on one happy meaningful experience. Include bullet points and details. Just thinking on this doubles the joy. (It also is powerful in melting toxic thought networks and building new ones. ~ Dr. Caroline Leaf.)
The Fun Fifteen
Wake up the “Feel Good” neurotransmitters by 15 minutes of exercise.
Meditation
I would qualify this by saying “Meditate on God’s Word and His principles. Let these principles lead your imagination to imagine all the good things God has for you.”
Conscious Acts of Kindness
Spend 2 minutes emailing or texting praise to someone you know. Shawn Anchor says if you do this three times, you will be addicted. It will be even more rewarding showing kindness in person.
