Thoughts Take Up Real Estate
Of course we know things take up space. It’s harder to get our mind around the fact that thoughts also take up space. Every single solitary thought, whether good or bad, takes up real estate in your brain. And if that isn’t enough: every thought will influence every single cell in our body.
We can think of healthy thoughts like sunshine flooding and upgrading our mindset and creating wonderful healthy tree networks in our brain. We must also remember that toxic thoughts are like poison; stealing our joy, our happiness and shortening our lives.
The cycle of toxic thought patterns can be broken. This will improve every area of our life. I’m pretty excited just thinking about this as I want to live every day of my life focusing on good things and having sunshine winning the day.
God has given us many gifts. The first gift is salvation (translated sozos, which means saved, healed, delivered, preserved and made whole.) Another of the treasured gifts He has provided for us is the ability to “renew our mind” one thought, one day, at a time.
Romans12:2 And be not conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Basic Understanding
If God instructs us to renew our minds, it must be possible. He will give us the strength and ability to do so. It will not be easy, but doable. It will be worth every ounce of effort. Our part is to ask in faith, believing He will do this.
He also tells us to bring every thought into captivity. “Make it give up to the obedience of Christ”, says one translation of II Corinthians 10:4,5.
It will require discipline. It will be worth it. The pain of discipline weighs ounces compared to the pain of regret.
