The Master’s Reset
Pastor Bryan Jarrett gave a message at our Sunday Church Service that was exactly what I needed to hear. Sometimes Goals can be tricky. Goals can become just broad generalizations because actually they are the Desire we wish to achieve. We want to use this extra motivation that always comes with a brand new year, but too often our own goals sabotage the achievement of them.
If your 2016 goals are a little hazy, maybe these tips from Pastor Jarrett will help you as they have inspired and helped me.
One of my favorite scriptures was mentioned in the service. I was so so glad to be reminded of this beautiful word.
“Do not remember the former things,
Nor consider the things of old.
19 Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert. Is 43:18,19 NKJV
Your Dreams
Actually, I don’t think this pastor will mind if I quote some of his great statements. I can’t seem to say it better than he did.
“No matter whether 2015 was good or bad for you, let your dreams be bigger than your memories.”
“Don’t dwell on the past. God is the author of time, He ordered the day and the seasons so we could have opportunities for fresh starts and new beginnings. There is new mercy for 2016.”
His Word says that His mercies are new every single morning.
Highlights of His Tips
Reset
I actually can’t find the definition he found, which included a Master reset. This is what I want: the Master’s reset. I’m eagerly expecting the Master to give me a brand new beginning in 2016 with greater goals and greater dreams to accomplish.
INPUT ACTIONS VERSUS OUTCOME GOALS
There is a difference between goals and desires. Desires are very broad and general like “Be healthier in 2016”. Goals are very specific and measurable like:
Exercise 3 times a week (where and which days)
Drink 1/2 my bodyweight in ounces of water each day (premeasure it)
Eat the Paleo way of eating 90% of the time. (my choice)
THE LAW OF FIRSTS
The way you and I begin this very first month of 2016 will set the precedent for the rest of the year. Most important will be to put God first as we begin the year, as we begin the month, and as we begin each new day; remembering that His mercies are new every morning. “He is putting streams in the desert. He is about to let water spring up from a dry place in your life. There are things that have not really materialized. Expect a way where there has not been a way. Forget the former things. These new things coming are a gift from God”. (His Master Reset).
